Foundations of Education is one of the courses in the pre-professional block, required of all students in the teacher education program. The course affords opportunities for the prospective teacher to examine the teaching profession. The variety of topics in the course will include the diversity of school populations, ethics, and the application of advancing technologies in education as well as the philosophical, historical, and social foundations of teaching and schooling. Thus, as an introduction to educational foundations, this course brings together all aspects of the conceptual framework through providing an opportunity for students to engage in critical reflection that will lead to enhanced professional practice.
